Sabie Trails

Updated: Mar 13, 2020

The majority of the York Adventure trails are on the southern side of the valley. They are extremely well built with just the right amount of flow, technical difficulty and gradient that most of the trails are exceptionally accessible to all skill levels....common agreement is that if you want them to be more difficult that you simply just need to do them quicker and the consequences will be severely greater.

The trails are not really accessible to riders all year round and sometimes getting a permit could prove to be challenging. Contact the main office @ 013 764 9200 and enquire about their day passes. If this proves too difficult send a mail to Odette ovstaden@york.co.za and ask her nicely...it will be worth the effort.

On the other side of the valley is SAFCOL with KLF forestry managing the trails of among other the Fanie Botha hiking trail. Dennis Lauwrie or more affectionally known as uncle "D" have been building trails on that part of the mountain for ages...the trails are quite mellow next to the river but a few coming down from the top has been used in the XCO world champs and was at the time rated as black...it still is quite techy and have caught out numerous riders till recently.

To get a hold of a permit is relatively easy. Stop at Merry Pebbles camp site's shop and purchase your day permit.
